Coming from the heart of Cajun Country, Louisiana Stars Drum and Bugle Corps is proud to represent the state of Louisiana while giving young adults the opportunity to develop musical and social skills as part of its performing arts program. As a high-performing, competitive marching arts ensemble, we travel around the country during the summer months competing against other drum corps from around the world. We are the only drum and bugle corps in the state of Louisiana recognized by Drum Corps International and we have just recently been acknowledged by the Governor of Louisiana as official ambassadors of the state of Louisiana. As an officially recognized Drum Corps International Open Class Drum Corps, our mission is to prosper character development, improved self-confidence, and self-esteem; have students learn the value of teamwork; and learn the value of responsibility as well as integrity, sacrifice, and excellence. Students will meet and work with people with diverse backgrounds and origins and make new, lifelong friends!

Participation in a drum corps is a dramatic, positive experience for most young people. Each corps offers a unique combination of education, life experience, and tradition. At the heart of the drum corps experience is a set of values – dedication, discipline, commitment, and achievement through teamwork – all of this enhances the student’s life. Young people soon discover that dedication and hard work enable them to achieve tremendous success. Success, in turn, promotes confidence in their abilities. Students learn and improve valuable personal skills like teamwork, time management, and problem solving.

What’s the Plan?

Louisiana Stars began its inaugural year in 2014. Since then, we have had very successful seasons, including finalist appearances since 2016. Being in the top 10 was definitely one of the most rewarding experiences for our students and staff. In 2016 and 2017, we were voted as Most Improved Open Class Drum Corps voted by all the directors of the Open Class division.

We are moving into our 7th season in the summer of 2020, and it is time for our organization to grow. We have rebranded, updated our official website, and have gathered a top ranking instructional staff. Our next move is to increase our financial support through corporate sponsorships. For the past 6 years, we have operated financially through a very limited budget. Although we have been successful, we need help in order to move forward and continue to be as competitive as we have been. Louisiana Stars have served over 800 students from within the state and across the country. Although these students pay $2,600 to participate, their contribution only goes so far.

Become a Shooting Star and help us grow our organization in order to provide a valuable and lasting performing arts education for young adults in and around Louisiana!
